Apperly Estates is a family-owned property company, founded in 1919.
Our focus is on actively managing the portfolio to maintain a low void rate and a diversified expiry profile whilst growing the portfolio through opportunistic purchases. Our activities often include refurbishment and high-quality development projects to attract occupiers who recognise the quality of buildings that the company develops.
We are also engaged on improving the sustainability performance of the company. We are tracking and reducing our carbon footprint and enhancing the environmental credentials of the portfolio wherever possible, through asset management initiatives and opportunistic new acquisitions.
Our properties provide 450,000 sq ft of high quality commercial floorspace, with over 50 tenants producing a gross annual rent of £6.0 million.
Tenants in the portfolio include Andretti Formula E, Bowmer & Kirkland, Chaumet, Dar Lighting, EDF, Halfords, Howdens, Just Digital, Rheon Labs, Robert Dyas, Santander, Sky Telecommunications Services, Strike Force International and Tesco.
Director Team
David Apperly (MA, MRICS)
Chairman since 1997 and a member of the Board since 1991. He also works as an independent consultant and advises London based Chartered Surveyors, Kinney Green, specialist occupiers, private investors and small property companies. David is also a Trustee for the Charity, Action 4 Youth.
Ed Dale-Jones (MA, MRICS)
Managing Director. Joined the company in June 2023. After starting his career in advertising with M&C Saatchi, Ed’s property career commenced at Jones Lang LaSalle, before working for 13 years as a Fund Manager at CBRE Investment Management.
Jonathan Houlton (BSc, ACA)
Finance Director. Joined the Company in April 2018, was formerly Group Finance Director of ISG plc. He qualified at Arthur Andersen and has also acted as a Trustee of St Christopher’s Hospice.
Rachel Azcona (BSc)
Company Secretary. Joined the Board in 2008. She has over 35 years experience working in commercial roles for Glaxo SmithKline and latterly as an independent strategic marketing consultant to the healthcare industry.
Peter Mullineux (MEng)
Deputy Chairman. Joined the board in 2015. He has nearly 20 years’ experience in the investment management industry. He is a managing director at US firm AllianceBernstein (AB) where he works as a senior investment specialist covering global and European equity strategies.
Charles Mullineux (BA, BArch, DIP, RIBA, ARB)
Qualified as an Architect and member of the RIBA for over 10 years. Having worked in London and the Cotswolds for various practices on high end residential and office development projects for over 15 years he set up his own chartered practice Charles Mullineux Design Ltd at the start of 2020.
Richard Apperly (MSc MRICS)
Joined the Board as an Associate Director in September 2022. He is a qualified surveyor with over 5 years’ experience in the property industry. He currently works for Jones Lang LaSalle in London, providing valuation consultancy for lenders, investors and developers.
